March 16, 2020 Coronavirus Update - Temporary Closure
Dear Y Community:
First, we want to thank you for your support of the Y and our mission. This is an unprecedented time and we all need to work together to get through this.
Governor Lamont has ordered all gyms to close March 16th at 8:00 PM.
Following this mandate, our Meriden YMCA branch at 110 West Main Street, New Britain YMCA at 50 High Street, and CrossFit Meriden at 74 Cambridge Street are closing until Governor Lamont notifies us that we are permitted to reopen. Our Hart House Residence at the New Britain YMCA will remain open.
While we are closed you can continue your wellness journey at home. Y360 virtual workouts are available. Click this link to learn more: At home wellness workouts.
CrossFit coaches are posting workouts for our CrossFit members on our CrossFit Meriden member page. Programs are postponed. We will make them up if possible when we reopen.
Due to White House, CDC, federal, state and local guidelines, we are also closing our child care centers.
We are hopeful that you will be patient during this time. Our YMCA has helped keep our community healthy and we ask that you please keep your membership active so we can keep our YMCA healthy during these challenges. Your support is more critical than ever as we anticipate a much greater need for financial assistance this year for child care, summer camp and more when we reopen.
We will communicate any updates via email, notices on our web site, and social media. Staff will be available to answer questions by phone at (203) 235-6386 in Meriden, (860) 229-3787 in New Britain, and at (860) 357-2717 in Berlin.
Thank you again for your continued support. We wish you and your loved ones good health.
John Benigni, CEO, Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA
Steve Markoja, Branch Executive Director, Meriden YMCA
